Brad Pitt revs his engines in Mexico for the premiere of "F1"

Brad Pitt returns to the big screen with "F1" , one of the most anticipated films of 2025. Set in the exciting world of Formula 1 , this film combines action, speed and drama with a realism that will give a never-before-seen vision of the universe that exists beyond the racetrack. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), "F1" seeks to take the viewer to the heart of elite motorsport.

The film follows the story of "Sonny Hayes" (Brad Pitt), a former Formula 1 driver who, after years of retirement, is recruited to return to the track and support the weakest team on the grid: APXGP . His mission is to mentor a promising young driver, "Joshua Pearce" (Damson Idris), and together they challenge the dominant teams in the world championship.

The plot explores themes such as redemption, media pressure, alliances within the paddock, and the sacrifice required by top-level competition. All of this takes place within the official Formula 1 universe, with footage shot during actual races throughout the season.

Brad Pitt visits Mexico City to promote "F1"

This Monday, June 9 , Brad Pitt surprised his Mexican fans by attending a special red carpet event at Parque Toreo, located in Naucalpan, State of Mexico . Hundreds of people gathered early to witness the actor's arrival, who appeared in a racing vehicle specially designed for the film, generating great excitement. Brad Pitt was accompanied by director Joseph Kosinski and also actors Damson Idris and Kerry Condon .

The red carpet began at 6:30 p.m. and was streamed live on Warner Bros. Mexico's official TikTok channel. During the event, a smiling Pitt greeted the audience, signed autographs, and took photos with attendees, in addition to speaking to the press. Although he didn't give a formal talk, he was visibly moved and grateful for the welcome. "It's incredible to be here. Thank you for so much love. We worked on this project for three years, and I'm very excited to be here."

It was Brad Pitt's first public appearance in Mexico since promoting "Bullet Train" in 2022; however, in 2024, the actor could be seen at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, filming some scenes from "F1," during the Mexican GP.

An adrenaline-filled movie

The script was written by Ehren Kruger, Kosinski's collaborator on Top Gun: Maverick, and the film was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who also served as a technical advisor. The cast will include:

  • Brad Pitt – Sonny Hayes, retired racing driver returning to competition.
  • Damson Idris – Joshua Pearce, a young talent under Hayes’ tutelage.
  • Kerry Condon – Chief Engineer of the APXGP team.
  • Javier Bardem – Team owner and key figure in paddock decisions.
  • Tobias Menzies – Representative of the championship’s corporate interests.
  • Lewis Hamilton – Consulting producer and executive producer; appears briefly on screen.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his visual style and ability to film immersive action sequences. After the success of "Top Gun: Maverick," Kosinski once again takes on a large-scale cinematic experience, this time on wheels. The film was shot on actual Formula 1 tracks, including Silverstone, the Hungaroring , Las Vegas, and the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City , giving it an unprecedented level of authenticity.

Warner Bros. confirmed that F1 will hit Mexican theaters on June 26, 2025 , one day ahead of its U.S. release (June 27). The film will be exclusively released in IMAX theaters, taking advantage of the visual spectacularity of its speed scenes.
